AIDS Awareness Week 2004
November 29 - December 3
World AIDS Day — recognized throughout the world on December 1st — is a
day when the world takes a moment to recognize the impact that this
deadly epidemic has upon us all. To help educate all people on how they
can protect themselves against HIV and AIDS, the LGBTA and our
cosponsors host AIDS Awareness Week.
one world. one hope. one fight.
During AIDS week the YMCA
helped out in spreading the word. Volunteers of the YMCA manned booths
giving out ribbons to students and community members showing their
support and awareness of AIDS week.
Volunteers at the YMCA helped
design and distribute fliers around campus spreading the word and facts
about AIDS and HIV.
At the end of the week a
group of students from the YMCA got together on a Saturday morning and
drove to Roanoke to help paint a warehouse. The warehouse is the home
for several offices for the Council of Community Services in Roanoke.
